EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.NETS Basketball will honor the Latin community by hosting Latin Night when the NETS host the Orlando Magic on Friday, March 5 at the IZOD CENTER. Latin Night is presented by Goya Foods, Inc. in association with Vonage.

The night will begin with a National Anthem performance by recording artist and Newark, NJ native Frankie Negrón. Then, at halftime, the crowd will be treated to a performance by the foremost dance representative of Hispanic culture in the U.S., Ballet Hispanico.

Other features of the night include a performance by the senior dance team from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx; IZOD CENTER food provider ARAMARK will feature Latin dishes seasoned with Goya products throughout arena lounges and clubs; Goya/NETS giveaways will be distributed to the first 5,000 fans to enter the IZOD CENTER; and Vonage/NETS commemorative Latin Night themed posters will be distributed to everyone in attendance upon departure.

The NETS will also honor Maria Feliciana, Founder and Chair of the Institute for Latino Studies, Research, and Development, Inc., a community-based non-profit organization that facilitates the empowerment of Latinos in New Jersey, and Executive board member of the New Jersey Latino Leadership Alliance, an organization uniting the many voices of Latinos in New Jersey to advocate for inclusion, access and representation in government.

“We are very excited about Latin Night and greatly enjoy our partnership with the NETS,” said Bob Unanue, president of Goya. “We appreciate the NETS’ efforts in continuing to reach out to the Hispanic community.”

“I think it’s great that the NETS will celebrate Latin heritage,” said NETS center Brook Lopez.  “There is a large Latin population in the metropolitan area and I feel that it is important for us to continue to reach out to that community and invite everyone to become a part of NETS Basketball.”

“It is an honor for us to celebrate the Latin community, and the significant impact it has had, and continues to have, in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area,” said NETS CEO Brett Yormark.
