East Rutherford, N.J.--The Nets will honor the Latin community by hosting Latin Night during the Nets game against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, February 7 at the IZOD CENTER. Latin Night is presented by Goya Foods, Inc.

Internationally known Dominican merengue band Oro Slido will perform at halftime. Other features of the night include a performance by the K-Company, the senior dance team from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx; IZOD CENTER food provider ARAMARK will feature Latin dishes seasoned with Goya products throughout arena lounges and clubs; and Goya/Nets t-shirts will be distributed to the first 5,000 fans to enter the IZOD CENTER.

The Nets will also be honoring Goya employees Jeannette Vazquez, an inter-company coordinator from Jersey City, and Carmen Vaughan, a human resource generalist from Staten Island, as the Hometown Heroes of the Game, presented by TD Bank. Vazquez and Vaughan are being recognized for raising over $32,500 for the American Cancer Society & Breast Cancer Awareness over the past three years.

In addition, Goya has donated 100 student reward tickets to Union City High School in New Jersey.

We are very excited about Latin Night and greatly enjoy our partnership with the Nets, said Bob Unanue, president of Goya. We appreciate the Nets efforts in continuing to reach out to the Hispanic community.

I think its great that the Nets will celebrate Latin heritage, said Nets forward Eduardo Najera. There is a large Latin population in the metropolitan area and I feel that it is important for us to reach out to that community and invite everyone to become a part of Nets Basketball.

It is an honor for us to celebrate the Latin community, and the significant impact it has had, and continues to have, in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, said Nets CEO Brett Yormark.
