NETS Basketball to Take Part in NBA Green Week

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—NETS Basketball will take part in several green activities during the NBA’s Green Week from Thursday, April 1 through Tuesday, April 9.
Amtrak is the presenting sponsor of NETS Green Program and www.netsgogreen.com, while associate NETS Green Program sponsors include American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Lawns by Yorkshire, and National Grid.
Green Week-related activities include:
April 1 – NETS player Keyon Dooling will sign autographs as part of Western Union Customer Appreciation Day at Pathmark in Jersey City (Highway 440 and Kellogg Street), where the NETS will distribute reusable shopping bags to customers.
April 3 – The NETS will hold a Green Night, presented by Amtrak, when the team matches up with the New Orleans Hornets. Green initiatives at the game will include:
- The NETS Green Team will collect recyclables from the fans during the game
- Green travel tips will be provided to fans during the night by Amtrak. There will also be an appearance by Amtrak’s Eco Mascot ARTE the Engineer
- The NETS and Lawns by Yorkshire will present the winner of the Greenest Nets Fan of the Year Contest at center court
April 5 – NETS player Josh Boone, NETS mascot Sly, and NETS entertainment team members will attend a Green Assembly at the Newton School in Newark, NJ, during which students, grades 6th – 8th, will learn different ways to be green and will also participate in a green project.
April 7 – In association with Lawns by Yorkshire, the NETS will visit a class at E. Roy Bixby Elementary School in Bogota, NJ and distribute starter tree kits to the students in the class.
April 9 – The NETS will hold Green Night presented by Lawns by Yorkshire. During the game, the NETS will honor a “Green Hometown Hero.”
