Did you have any inclination where you would be picked? How does it feel to be a Net?
“Oh man, I’m so excited and happy; New Jersey’s a great fit for me. I went in and worked out with Philadelphia and they (the Nets) actually came into my workout with Philadelphia, as well as Washington. I wasn’t sure from what they were telling that I knew they were interested, but the draft’s just really up in the air on draft day. I love the program, I love their managing style. It’s just a great area and a great organization to be a part of. I’m just happy, and also to be with a fellow player from the Pac-10 so that’s great..”

Brook Lopez said you were the best shooting big man in the Pac-10. Is that what you will bring to the Nets?
“I’m a shooting big guy so I can definitely step out and hit pick and pops, play down low as well, and play hard and rebound. I’m a hard working guy so I’m definitely going to get in there right off the bat and get stronger and improve my game. And just ultimately get ready to play for the Nets.”

What’s your scouting report on Brook Lopez?
“Brook is an amazing, talented kid. He was definitely the hardest guy to guard in the Pac-10, just because he’s such a big body. He’s 7-1 and he’s real crafty; he’s going to do a great job in the NBA and it’s going to be a privilege to play alongside of him.”

What’s the draft experience been like for you?
“The draft’s been crazy. There’s been so many ups and downs. I’ve actually taken a break from looking at the draft and I’m just excited and sitting around with my family and friends. We’re just letting it settle in our heads.”

What did the Nets tell you after they drafted you?
“They told me they were excited to bring me in and they know I’m a scoring force and that they know I’m going to be out there and be able to play and be a scorer. I’ll do what I do best. There’s a lot of openings on that team; it’s a great team. I’m going to be a guy who is going to be able to step out there and be a pick and pop guy and be a rebounder. Me and Brook are going to be able to come out there and do our thing. So yeah, I’m definitely excited and they said they were excited as well.”

What do you think of all the youth on the Nets?
“I think it’s real great. I just saw that Ryan Anderson – my age from Cal – was picked. He’s kind of replacing Robin from my point of view. I just think we have a real high ceiling now and I’m excited. I just barely turned 20 years old; I’m really looking forward to learning.”
