Deron Williams to Participate in Skills Challenge

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams has been selected to participate in the 2012 Taco Bell Skills Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando, the NBA announced today.
Williams, a 2012 NBA All-Star, will be making his third appearance in the competition (2008, 2010) and is the current record holder in the event at 25.5 seconds, which he set in 2008 in New Orleans.
Williams is the third Nets player to participate in the event since its inception in 2003. Jason Kidd competed twice (2003, 2008), winning the competition in 2003, while Devin Harris competed in 2009, finishing second.
Williams is averaging team-highs with 21.7 points and 8.3 assists along with 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 37.5 minutes per contest. He is shooting .410 from the field, .354 from behind the arc and .852 from the line. Williams is ranked 12th in scoring and 6th in the NBA this season.
The complete Skills Challenge field includes reigning champion Stephen Curry (GSW), Kyrie Irving (CLE), Tony Parker (SAS), John Wall (WAS) and Russell Westbrook (OKC).
