Day 11 Workouts: Crittenton, Gordon, Lekic, and Golubovic

The Nets began their final week of scheduled pre-draft workouts today with Javaris Crittenton of Georgia Tech, Jamon Gordon of Virginia Tech, Marko Lekic of Serbia (it was his second workout with the Nets/Knicks), and Vladimir Golubovic, a seven-footer also from Serbia.
Crittenton enters the draft after a freshman season with Georgia Tech where he averaged 14.4 points, 5.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. The 6’5” guard said that there are some who see a similarity to Baron Davis in his game. The player he looks up to is the point guard who plays in the gym he worked out in today.
“I look up to Jason Kidd,” said Crittenton.
“I just want my mental state of mind to be where Jason Kidd’s is.”
“He makes the right play almost every single time down the court and that’s something I just want to improve upon. He’s kind of like someone I like up to as far as decision-making and just being a point guard.”
A former high-school teammate Crittenton looks to for advice is former number one draft pick, Dwight Howard, of Orlando. The two led Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy to a state championship in 2004; Crittenton helped lead the squad to another two years later.
“I talk to him a lot and just try to gather information about the NBA, on and off the court,” said 2006’s Georgia “Mr. Basketball”, of Howard.
“He’s been talking to me since he went into the league about everything that goes on in the NBA. He’s been a great friend and he’s been helping me out a lot.”
Crittenton – who has also worked out for Miami, both Los Angeles teams, Philadelphia, Washington, and Phoenix – is projected to go in the first-round of the draft.
“Everybody from 10-20 has been giving me great feedback,” he said after today’s workout.
Crittenton matched up against Jamon Gordon of Virginia Tech. The 6’3” point guard said he is known for his defense but thinks his passing skills are overlooked. He is hoping to parlay good pre-draft workouts into a spot in the NBA.
“Not too many teams are making promises,” said Gordon, who has also worked out for Washington, Portland, and Dallas.
