EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—NETS Basketball is celebrating the arrival of two-time NBA All-Star point guard Deron Williams by featuring him on a larger than life landscape on a Newark building and as the star of an overall marketing campaign leading to Brooklyn, the team’s home beginning for the 2012-13 NBA season.
The first 10,000 fans to attend Williams’ NETS home debut tonight against the Phoenix Suns at the Prudential Center will receive a ‘NETS No. 8 Deron Williams’ t-shirt. Game time is 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early.
Williams’ image towers high above Newark on a 65-foot-by 45-foot banner on the Robert Treat Hotel at 50 Park Place. The NETS are further introducing Williams to their fans through full-page advertisements in select major newspapers today, special content on www.njnets.com, as well as in-arena activation during tonight’s game, coupled with radio and digital advertisements.
“Deron will be a huge star in the metropolitan area,” said NETS CEO Brett Yormark. “We are activating him now in a major way in New Jersey, and soon will be doing the same in Brooklyn where he’ll become the face of our team at the Barclays Center.
Williams’ replica No. 8 NETS jersey will be available for purchase at the game and through the team’s online team store at www.njnets.com <http://www.njnets.com> .
Fans are encouraged to follow up-to-date information on Williams and the NETS on Twitter (@NETSBasketball) and Facebook.
