Barclays Center Seating Bowl Images Released
Venue to offer intimate seating configurations,
unparalleled sightlines, & optimum acoustics
March 8, 2010
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment, an affiliate of Nets Sports and Entertainment, LLC, today issued new images of the Barclays Center seating bowl, one of the most intimate seating configurations ever designed into a modern, multi-purpose arena.
“The Barclays Center will provide unparalleled sightlines and a comfortable, accessible, and enjoyable entertainment experience,” said Barclays Center General Manager Alex Diaz. “The seating bowl design places spectators as close to the action as possible, creating an exciting atmosphere for all events.”
The 675,000 square-foot Barclays Center, to be located at Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, will hold 18,000 seats for basketball and up to 19,000 for concerts. Designed by award-winning architectural firms Ellerbe Becket and SHoP Architects, the arena will have 104 suites, including 63 suites on the lower suite level (located above the lower level seats), 30 suites on the upper suite level and 11 suites on the event level.
Levy Restaurants will provide the finest culinary experiences throughout the Barclays Center, including for the signature restaurant, which will be located on the lower suite level with views overlooking Flatbush Avenue and the arena bowl. The Barclays Center will feature six clubs, including the Legends Lounge, located on the main concourse, which offers direct views to the court for basketball and the stage for concerts, as well as an exclusive suite level lounge for premium seat holders, located on the lower suite level, and which also has views to the basketball court and stage.
Additionally, the arena is designed with extra-wide entry ways into the seating bowl allowing for easier and faster access for fans. There will also be integrated seating for individuals with disabilities within all seating classifications.
The Barclays Center will have a technologically advanced, custom-designed center hung video and scoreboard, with video screens and multiple layers of LED canvasses for scoring and sponsorship messaging. A large view portal will allow those outside of the arena a view into the seating bowl and the scoreboard from the ADT Plaza and Flatbush Avenue. Also, the bowl will contain fascia LED displays, as well as two end zone LED video displays.
In optimizing the event experience for spectators and performers alike, the Barclays Center will have specially designed and placed sound reflective materials to redirect the crowd sound back to the basketball court or stage. At the same time, sound absorbing materials will be placed at strategic locations to enhance the concert sound qualities required by artists and concertgoers. The volume of the interior ceiling area of the arena, created by the graceful arc of the roof trusses, further reinforces the optimized sound qualities needed for both sporting events and concerts, creating a truly flexible and multi-purpose venue.
In addition to NETS Basketball and high-profile concerts, the Barclays Center will host an extensive range of top professional, collegiate and scholastic sports, family shows, and much more.
Construction on the Barclays Center site is ongoing and the arena will open in 2012.
In January 2007, Barclays, a leading global financial services company, and the NETS announced a multi-faceted strategic marketing and media partnership that includes a 20-year naming rights of the arena.
In addition to Barclays, the naming rights partner, the Barclays Center currently has 10 major partners, including: ADT, Cushman & Wakefield, EmblemHealth, MetroPCS, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Jones Soda, Haier America, Phillips-Van Heusen, Anheuser-Busch, and High Point Solutions.
