EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—NETS Basketball has entered into a multi-tiered sponsorship alliance with Aeroflot (www.aeroflot.ru/cms/en), Russia’s leading air carrier and among Russia’s most recognized brands.
In its first-ever alliance with a professional sports team in the U.S., Aeroflot will receive a variety of television and other sponsorship entitlements including: television-visible courtside signage during NETS home games that will be broadcast in Russia during the 2010-11 NBA season and on-screen branding during select YES Network broadcasts of NETS away games this season.
Aeroflot, which is based in Moscow at Sheremetyevo International Airport, will also serve as the associate sponsor of “An Evening of Russian Culture” during the NETS-Utah Jazz game at the NETS’ home venue, the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on January 19, 2011.
NETS Principal Owner Mikhail Prokhorov said, “We’re proud to announce that one of Russia’s blue chip companies and best brands is becoming a NETS corporate sponsor, and we’re looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Aeroflot.”
“We are thrilled to form this alliance with Russia’s leading air carrier as we continue our goal to become the first global team in the NBA,” said NETS CEO Brett Yormark. “Aeroflot is a historic and renowned company, and we look forward to helping deliver its message to consumers throughout Russia and the New York metropolitan area. The team’s recent visit to Moscow generated overwhelming excitement in the country and we are delighted that the NETS have become Russia’s home team.”
