Michael Zavodsky

Michael Zavodsky has quickly risen through the ranks within the Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) organization. Starting as an intern to CEO Brett Yormark in May 2005, Zavodsky transitioned from Account Executive, to Director, to Vice President, to Senior Vice President and finally to his current position of Executive Vice President overseeing the Global Partnerships department.

In his current role, Zavodsky oversees sponsorship sales and service for all of BSE’s venues and businesses, including Barclays Center; the Brooklyn Nets (as well as its HSS Training Center and its G League team, the Long Island Nets); the New York Islanders; NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum; Webster Hall, and LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre. His team of 30 employees manage a portfolio of more than 70 corporate partners across BSE’s businesses.

Zavodsky has been able to partner with some of the best brands in the world during his tenure in Brooklyn, including American Express, GEICO, Stoli, Calvin Klein, Anheuser-Busch, Infor, JetBlue, New York Life, New York Daily News, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, National Grid, Honda, Ticketmaster, RedBull, Amtrak, and adidas.

He has a notable ability for identifying non-traditional partners in the sports and entertainment industry, including GQ, Zappos, Steve Madden, Haworth, Viacom, and Jackson Lewis. He helped introduce fantasy sports into mainstream sponsorship, consummating a two-team deal with FanDuel which made the Nets and the Orlando Magic the first two teams in major pro sports to partner with the company.

Zavodsky was critical in securing New York Community Bank (NYCB) as the presenting partner for the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. He has also been responsible for the naming rights partnerships for Barclays Center, IZOD Center, Rutgers’ High Point Solutions Stadium, and Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk.

Following his success in the naming rights sector, Zavodsky oversaw the launch of ENTITLE, a naming rights company under BSE’s umbrella in partnership with Cooper Holdings, Inc. ENTITLE, which launched in November 2016, aims to provide properties and brands with meaningful partnerships, has retained a number of high profile clients, most recently the Premier Boxing Champions franchise.

In addition to the sales effort, Zavodksy has played a role in programming Barclays Center, helping to secure events like the Golden Gloves boxing event and college basketball games and has also engaged his partners in the community, including his work with Party City, in donating $100,000 worth of Halloween Costumes to underprivileged children in Brooklyn.

Zavodsky attended Quinnipiac University and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from his Alma Mater, the youngest recipient in University’s history. He was named one of Leaders’ “Leaders Under 40” in 2017, Sports Business Journal’s “40 under 40” in 2016, and previously named one of Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30” and one of Sport Pro Magazine’s “10 Next.” The New Jersey native currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
