Nets Hold Open Practice to Support Hurricane Relief

JASON KIDD CURRENTLY VISITING HURRICANE RELIEF SHELTERS IN HOUSTON

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (September 7, 2005) - The Nets will donate all proceeds from their Open Practice fundraiser at Ramapo College on October 7 to the American Red Cross to help in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, Nets CEO Brett Yormark announced.

This benefit will be the first of several commitments by the Nets organization to assist Hurricane victims. Nets captain Jason Kidd is currently visiting Hurricane relief shelters in Houston to lend his support and to raise morale of those displaced.

Each fan who orders a free Open Practice ticket through Ticketmaster is asked to make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross, which will be matched by the Nets.

At the Open Practice, the team will hold a live auction of authentic autographed game jerseys of Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, as well as VIP game packages with all proceeds to be donated to the relief effort.

“The Nets organization wants to do everything we can to help the victims of this enormous devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina,” Yormark said. “Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone impacted and we will continue to do more to assist in the recovery.”

The Nets encourage all patrons who attend the 6 p.m. Open Practice to bring clothing, shoes, non-perishable food items and bottled water, which will be collected by Nets volunteers and delivered to relief centers in the Gulf Coast region.
