NBA Jam Live in China

Back to Brooklyn

May 21st, 2012

Hi Nets fans! What an exciting week it has been for us in China! Sadly, we head back home today. It has been such a pleasure experiencing the culture, tasting the food, and interacting with the generous people here in Guangzhou. Back to Brooklyn we go, but not without amazing memories that include a boat ride to the Guangzhou Tower, dancing and dunking at NBA Presents: Jam Live, and performing at events throughout the city.

I’m so glad that we were able to bring a taste of the NBA experience here to Guangzhou. My favorite part of our trip would have to be interacting with our fans after their support and incredible reactions to all of our performances. The fans here in China gave off such a powerful energy and never failed to make us feel at home. I’m so thankful for everyone who welcomed us with such open arms. They really made my first trip to China unforgettable!

Making New Friends

May 20th, 2012

Hey Nets fans, it’s Mandee!

Sadly our time in Guangzhou is coming to an end. Today we had a final appearance for Lenovo at a local mall. We participated in interviews and performed dance routines for our fans who filled the four levels of the mall to cheer us on.

Meeting our fans and a local dance team were highlights of our visit. The mall was filled with tremendous energy, and it was a great way to end a successful trip!

After our performance we had time to go shopping at the Mouse Street Shopping Center, also know as “Women’s Street.” We were able to purchase locally produced items and experience the culture and different styles of China.

Our night ended with a team dinner at the hotel. We reminisced about our time in Guangzhou and how fortunate we were to have this opportunity to perform for our fans in China once again. We had a great time, and we hope to come back soon!

Game Day

May 19th, 2012

Ni Hao Nets fans! Today was the day we’ve been waiting for. The main event, Jam Live, took place at the Guangzhou International Sports Arena. It featured a combination of NBA players, legends, D-leaguers and Asian celebrities taking part in contests, a skills challenge, and of course, a basketball game. It was the first event of its kind in China to combine NBA basketball with live music.

When we were announced for the first time this evening, the response from the crowd was overwhelming. There are no words to describe the feeling we got right before we were about to perform. The energy in the arena was amazing and it pumped us up even more than we already were. The fans loved our athletic routine to “Run the World” and cheered loudly for us as we executed all of our tricks and intricate choreography.

The fans also went crazy for our hip hop routine to “Motto.” After we finished all of our performances we went into the crowd to take pictures and to give out posters. All of the love and enthusiasm the fans showed the Brooklyn Nets was unbelievable.

This was my third trip to China, and each experience thus far has been surreal. The people of Guangzhou are so welcoming. It is such a pleasure and privilege being able to perform and share my passion for dance with them. This experience has definitely been one I will never forget!

Ni hao from China!

Our trip to Guangzhou has been great so far! Today we had an appearance at the Dongfeng Dealership. We performed one of our routines from court, which was a great opportunity to give the fans and local media a taste of what we do back home.

Next we had a press conference for NBA Presents: Jam Live! at the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou. We opened the event with a high-energy routine. The press conference also included interviews with NBA players and legends, D-league players, CBA players, and Asian celebrities. The event highlighted all of the exciting events that will be a part of Jam Live on Saturday night.

Following the press conference we had a delicious Chinese dinner. We were able to sample some of the local cuisine, and one of the dancers’ favorite dishes was the dim sum.

All the the people in China have been so welcoming and kind. We are excited to give back to the fans at the Jam Live event tomorrow!

After almost twenty hours of traveling, we finally made it to Guangzhou. We are so excited to be here in China, representing Brooklyn!

Today started bright and early with rehearsals at the Guangzhou International Sports Arena for our big event Saturday night, NBA Presents: Jam Live!

After rehearsal we headed back to our fabulous hotel to get ready for a night full of sightseeing, shopping, and dining. First we were treated to a boat tour along the Pearl River, followed by photos for local media at the Guangzhou Tower.

After sightseeing, we headed to Beijing Road for some shopping!

Following an amazing day, we worked up an appetite and were ready for dinner. Dinner was a fusion of Asian specialities including duck, vegetable chili, and assorted sushi and sashimi.

Stay tuned!
Jen
