BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Its iconic script logo was a mainstay on the outfield fence at Ebbets Field. And in 2012 – 55 years after the Dodgers left Brooklyn – Coca-Cola will be returning to a major sports and entertainment venue in Brooklyn. One of the world’s most renowned brands, Coca-Cola has been named the official carbonated soft drink provider of the Barclays Center of Brooklyn, and has formed a sponsorship alliance with the NETS for when the team relocates to Brooklyn for the 2012-2013 NBA season.
In addition to its flagship brand, Coca-Cola will be the exclusive provider of an extensive list of beverages served at the Barclays Center, including: carbonated soft drinks, juices, teas, and other select beverages.
“Whether during the glory years at Ebbets Field or on Coney Island, Coca-Cola has a long and rich history in Brooklyn sports,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of the Barclays Center. “We are committed to bringing the very best to the Barclays Center, so we’re excited to welcome this dynamic brand back to a major venue in the borough.”
“Brooklyn's official motto is 'Unity Makes Strength.' While Coca-Cola has never left Brooklyn, we’re now joining forces with a major venue, reuniting with the borough and forming a strong partnership with NETS Basketball and the Barclays Center," said Sharon Byers, Vice President, Marketing Assets, Coca-Cola North America.
"We are looking forward to refreshing everyone who visits the Barclays Center and to a long alliance with the team, venue and community."
With NETS Basketball anchoring the arena’s roster, the Barclays Center will have more than 200 events annually, including premier concerts, monthly major professional boxing cards, professional tennis, top college basketball and hockey, and family shows, such as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice.
