Practice this morning was a fun time. I almost made a couple of halfcourt shots. My team lost the shooting games. I found out I’m playing two-guard tomorrow. We’ve got five small guards as reserves – I think Paul Pierce is our backup center, ha.
Ray Allen had to make me feel bad – I was the last pick when they split teams to shoot. Last one! That took me back to 7th grade. I was disappointed. It was definitely motivating. I was making all the shots, shooting like I’d never shot before.
I stopped being picked last when I got taller. I was 6-feet tall my 9th-grade year, and then sophomore year I shot up to 6-3.
It was cool putting on the All-Star warm-ups, but the boys are killing our Adidas gear in the locker room. That hurt my heart a little bit; the Nike boys are getting bold these days. You’re probably wondering if I have special-edition kicks. That’s to be continued …
Okay, I saw them – but I wasn’t supposed to. I’m trying to keep all this All-Star stuff. My mom’s been going through my bag like, ‘What can I have?’ Nothing! I want it all.
I don’t feel like an All-Star just yet. Maybe tomorrow. I feel like a hopeless romantic tonight. It’s Valentine’s Day.
Record-Setting Sprint
It’s incredible to be a Guinness World Record Holder. Everybody’s trying to challenge my record for being fastest baseline-to-baseline. They tried to get Tony Parker to challenge it, and he knew he couldn’t do it, so he backed off. Leandro Barbosa, I’m a little worried about, but he’s all hopped up on Red Bull.
I’m comfortable with 3.93 seconds, but I could’ve probably did better. They made me do it twice, I think my first time was a little bit better. I was a little tired the second time, but like they said: the first one was a false start. We had so many other choices to challenge, and the guys kind of threw me under the bus with that one.
Rollout (My Business)
Partied with Ludacris last night out in Scottsdale. It was a fun time. They had a concert going on, and a bar/club sort of vibe. I ran into Richard Jefferson. It was great. It was fun to see him again, a good time. We had the conversation over a garbage can. Nah, actually it was a cocktail table.
Set for Skills
The first time I ran the course was at the walkthrough. That bounce pass is going to be the key. It should be fun. Either way, win or lose, it’s just about having fun out there. We’re competitive – we’ve got a good bunch of guys in there – but it should be fun.
Dwyane and Jameer picking me is a good prediction. They’re going off speed, though there’s the skill part (to consider). Once you get that bounce pass, you’re good to go. I’m going with one hand on it. From the practice I got, you’ve got to get a little bit more air. If you go two, you might not bounce it as high as you need to. We’ll see what happens. |
