Fever Honored, Host White House FIT Clinic


On June 12, President Obama recognized the 2012 WNBA champion Indiana Fever for its achievement at the White House in Washington, DC. After the ceremony, the team hosted a WNBA FIT clinic in conjunction with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, where players promoted the importance of exercise and healthy living to local youths. President Obama lauded Indiana’s outreach efforts, saying, “Players on the Fever have received a combined 13 WNBA Community Assist Awards for countless hours they spend volunteering.”

NBA Family Participates in 2013 Gatorade NBA Training Center

Several current and retired NBA players, including Jared Dudley, Carl Landry, Sleepy Floyd, Nick Anderson, Pat Burke, Bob Love and A.C. Green hosted basketball clinics for over 200 boys and girls as part of the 2013 Gatorade NBA Training Center, where they promoted the importance of training hard, associating with the right group of people, and following their dreams. These events include trips to Greensboro, N.C., Orlando, Houston, Phoenix, San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

WNBA and NBA Players Partner with Coca-Cola to Host FIT Clinic

As part of the Coca-Cola Live Positively campaign, WNBA Legend Sue Wicks and the Indiana Pacers’ Chris Copeland hosted a WNBA FIT clinic at the newly refurbished Sprite Spark Park in East Orange, New Jersey. Hundreds of young participants were afforded the opportunity to learn core skills, on-and-off the basketball court.

Swin Cash Hosts WNBA FIT Jamba Juice Clinic

Chicago Sky forward Swin Cash recently hosted a WNBA FIT Jamba Juice Clinic at the South Side YMCA in Chicago, where she worked through different fitness stations with the kids and stressed the importance of fitness and healthy living.

NBA Family Hosts Dribble To Stop Diabetes Clinic at NBA Nation

With over 300,000 kids and adults living with diabetes in Chicago, the Dribble to Stop Diabetes campaign sponsored a WNBA/NBA D-League FIT Clinic during the NBA Nation presented by Sprint’s tour stop in the city. WNBA Legend Sheryl Swoopes, NBA Legend Daryl Dawkins, and the Detroit Pistons’ Will Bynum helped conduct the clinic which consisted of instructions on basketball fundamentals, tips for living a healthy and active lifestyle, and basketball-themed games and drills teaching participants the importance of being active.

WNBA All-Stars Direct Court Dedication & Clinic

As part of WNBA All-Star 2013, WNBA Cares hosted a Bona Flooring Court dedication ceremony and Jamba Juice WNBA FIT Clinic at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School for youth from New London Parks and Recreation. All-Stars Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Allison Hightower and Ivory Latta conducted a basketball clinic for over 75 kids and taught them about the importance of eating healthy.

Sacramento Kings guard Greivis Vasquez and NBA Legend Buck Williams hosted an Under Armour court dedication at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, providing young athletes the opportunity to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
