The NBA FIT Team
The FIT team is made up of NBA Family members including players, coaches, officials, trainers and health-related experts who serve as ambassadors and positive role models for kids and parents. As a FIT team member, they will attend grassroot fitness events, promote valuable fitness information and continue to make good healthy life choices.

Grant Hill - Phoenix Suns Grant was drafted 3rd overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. Hill ended up sharing NBA Rookie of the Year Award honors with Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the first Piston since Dave Bing in 1966–67 to win the award. This seven-time All-Star has been considered one of the best all-around players in the game, as he would often lead his team in points, rebounds and assists. |

Devin Harris - New Jersey Nets Devin is a member of the New Jersey Nets. He attended Wisconsin University where he was named the Big-Ten Player of The Year. He was the 5th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. This past season Devin was named a reserve for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, his first time being named an All-Star in his career. |

Tamika Catchings - Indiana Fever Tamika is a member of the Indiana Fever. She attended the University of Tennessee where she was an All-American from 1997-2001. She was a part of Tennessee’s undefeated 1997-98 National Champion team. She was drafted 3rd overall in the 2001 WNBA Draft. Tamika was twice named WNBA Defensive Player of The Year and she is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She is a 5-time WNBA All-Star. Tamika is a proud ambassador for NBA FIT/WNBA FIT. |

Katie Smith She attended Ohio State University. During her career at OSU, Smith broke the Big Ten scoring record for points scored in a career, in men’s or women’s basketball. She helped led the Detroit Shock to the 2008 WNBA Championship where she was named Most Valuable Player. Also in 2008, Katie won an Olympic Gold medal with the US Women’s National Team at the Beijing Olympics. |

Cappie Pondexter - New York Liberty Cappie is a member of the New York Liberty. She attended Rutgers University. She was drafted 2nd overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft. Cappie helped lead the Phoenix Mercury to the 2007 WNBA Championship where she was named Most Valuable Player. She is a two-time WNBA All-Star. |

Erik Spoelstra - Head Coach, Miami HEAT Erik Spoelstra begins his second season as Head Coach of the Miami HEAT and his 15th within the HEAT organization. He was elevated to his current post on April 28, 2008 when HEAT President Pat Riley stepped down as Head Coach. Prior to taking over the reigns as the sixth head coach in Miami history, Spoelstra was known around the league for his game preparation and superb attention to detail as the HEAT’s Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting. In his last seven seasons in that position he had the primary role of developing game plans for the HEAT’s upcoming opponents. |

He attended Georgia University and was named the SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year as a junior. He was drafted 3rd overall in the 1982 NBA Draft. A 9-time All-Star, Dominique went on to become one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. Wilkins is also known as one of the best dunkers in NBA history, earning the nickname “The Human Highlight Reel.” |

He was drafted 26th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft. Jerome is best known from his playing days with the New York Knicks. He was nicknamed “JunkYard Dog” or “JYD” for his hard work and hustle. |

Jennifer Azzi - WNBA Legend Jennifer currently works as a motivational speaker throughout the country. She attended Stanford University where she led the Lady Cardinals to the 1990 NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Championship. She was drafted 5th overall in the 1999 WNBA Draft. Jennifer also won a gold medal while playing for the US Women’s basketball team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA. Jennifer was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. |

Steve Hess - Strength & Conditioning Coach, Denver Nuggets In his 13th season with the Nuggets, Hess creates and administers individual workout programs for each player throughout the entire year. He spends the majority of the off season working with the Nuggets players as well as other professional athletes, overseeing every aspect of their workout programs. He pushes them to reach their peak physical condition. A graduate of Ithaca College (N.Y.), Hess received a master’s degree in physical education with an emphasis on sports medicine and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science fitness and cardiac rehabilitation in ‘91. |

Roger Hinds - Athletic Trainer, New York Knicks Roger Hinds is the Head Trainer for the New York Knicks and only the sixth trainer in the franchise history. Roger served as strength and conditioning coach for the gold medal-winning US Olympic Team at the Atlanta Olympics. Prior to his NBA career, Roger served a 12-year tenure at the College of Charleston as it’s head athletic trainer and Director of Sports medicine. |
