NBA FIT/WNBA FIT Challenge

In its inaugural year, The NBA FIT/ WNBA FIT Challenge offered more than 100,000 youngsters the chance to demonstrate their physical fitness in 798 local competitions in the United States and Canada. The challenge tested participants’ speed, strength, agility, and overall physical fitness. Local competitions took place nationwide from September through November 2009 and regional competitions ran through January 2010 in all NBA Markets and (5) D-League markets. The event culminated in the National Finals held during All-Star Week this past February.

NBA FIT/ WNBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish

Dribble, Dish & Swish gave participants the opportunity to showcase their fundamental basketball skills and physical fitness through a time-based, half-court obstacle course. More than 200 local competitions took place through late November in locations throughout the country. The local champion in each age and gender group advanced to their city’s regional competition and the top two participants in each age and gender group across all regional competitions – a total of six boys and six girls – received an all-expense-paid trip to NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas, Texas, where they competed in the national finals at NBA All-Star Jam Session.
