The NBA Family Celebrates NBA FIT Live Healthy Week

As part of NBA FIT Live Healthy Week, which tipped off on January 25 and continues through February 2, the NBA, its teams and players are joining community partners to highlight the importance of healthy living. In addition to wearing special oncourt apparel, players are also hosting a variety of events in-arena and in their communities featuring healthy activities and fun for the whole family. The Charlotte Bobcats, led by NBA FIT Team Member member Kemba Walker, tipped off the week with an NBA FIT clinic for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte.

2012 NBA/WNBA FIT Team Announced

The NBA/WNBA FIT team includes players, legends, coaches and trainers who serve as ambassadors encouraging fans of all ages to live an active, healthy lifestyle. New additions to this year’s team include New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden, Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, and Charlotte Bobcats guard Kemba Walker.

Dribble to Stop Diabetes

The NBA, WNBA and NBA D-League, in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association and Sanofi US, tipped off the second year of Dribble to Stop Diabetes, a national campaign designed to encourage fans to live an active, healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about diabetes. Following a successful inaugural year, the 2012 Dribble to Stop Diabetes campaign is supported by ambassadors Carlos Boozer of the Chicago Bulls, Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever, NBA Legend Bob Lanier, and New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson, who each appear in a nationally broadcast public service announcement.

Dribble, Dish & Swish National Finals

The NBA today announced the 12 national finalists from the 2011-12 “NBA FIT/ WNBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish presented by Pepperidge Farm® Flavor Blasted® Goldfish® crackers” competition. This marks the third season of the Dribble, Dish & Swish competition, which to date has offered more than 140,000 boys and girls ages around the country with the opportunity to showcase their fundamental basketball skills and physical fitness through a time-based, half-court obstacle course. Finalists will head to Orlando, Florida for an unforgettable experience at NBA All-Star, which will include competing in the national finals.
