David Robinson built a school in San Antonio where he won two NBA titles as a player. For his work on and off the court, the Admiral was recognized as Texan of the Year.

April 5, 2004 -- Just because he's nearly a year removed from blocking his last shot doesn't mean the accolades have stopped for David Robinson.

The two-time NBA champion recently was named Texan of the Year by Texas Gov. Rick Perry. "Only recently have I really even thought of myself as a Texan," said Robinson, who was born in Florida and attended high school in Virginia. "It's kind of scary. It makes me feel like I've got to go out and do something."

Do something?. Let's see: two NBA championships (1999 and 2003), the MVP award (1995), the NBA Sportsmanship Award (2001), the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award (2003) and ... oh, yeah, opening a school (Carver Academy) in San Antonio. Gee, if he needs to do more, where does that leave the rest of us?

Admiral, the Buzz salutes you.
