As good as the Pistons' D was, Larry Brown had no defense for that outfit.

June 24, 2004 -- Memo to championship-winning coaches: Destroy any and all incriminating photos of egregious fashion statements before embarking on victory tours. Or risk suffering Larry Brown's fate.

After waiting 21 years to capture his first NBA title, Brown stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday. Letterman showed a photo of Brown coaching in the '76 ABA All-Star Game wearing a sky-blue polyester shirt and tight denim patchwork overalls. "This is when Larry was on the cast of 'Hee Haw,'" Letterman quipped. Brown had no comeback for that one and could only laugh at his lack of fashion sense.

Brown did speak about his next job, coaching the U.S. Olympic team. "We have a lot of guys that aren't coming, so I heard that you play a little?" A confident Letterman replied, "I'll come, but I've got to get my minutes, you know what I'm saying? Iím not coming to ride the bench."

Buzz is sure Brown had never heard that complaint from a player before.
