Lisa Johnson Smith has been a familiar face on television for the past 15 years. Blessed to land her first on-air job just two weeks after graduating from college, Johnson Smith took on the world with “Teen Summit”, a live, one-hour national talk show on BET for the next four and a half years. As both host and producer, she learned the intricacies of live television. Now a seasoned producer, this television personality brings a refreshing expertise to on-air broadcasting. She is far from being “just another pretty face”.

After marrying in 1992, Johnson Smith moved to the New York area with her husband, Charles Smith, a former NBA player, after a trade to the New York Knicks. While there, her career only blossomed. She began hosting and reporting for CNN and HBO where she hosted a show with “The Today Show’s” Matt Lauer. Simultaneously, she continued to host her talk show on BET by commuting to Washington, DC each week. Both confident and equipped behind the camera, Johnson Smith served as the Executive Producer and Producer of various television specials and independent projects. In 1996, another NBA trade took she and her family to San Antonio, Texas where she worked for ABC on an entertainment segment created especially for her in the nightly news cast.

Now back in the New York area, Johnson Smith continues to thrive in the profession she loves. Three years ago, she started “Night Owl Productions”, her own television production company. Currently, she is a correspondent for NBA TV and Host of “NBA Players in the Community”. She is also a freelance producer and host for various television projects.

Johnson Smith is the proud and devoted mother of three little boys. She loves spending time with her family and credits all of her success to God.
