Denver Nuggets
Through a variety of community initiatives, the Denver Nuggets strive not only to be successful, but also to be a significant corporate and community partner by bettering the lives and opportunities for the underserved in Colorado. The Denver Nuggets are proud to support a number of youth programs that focus on education, health & fitness and teamwork. Every year, players and coaches can be found in the classroom using basketball principles to get students excited about school. The team is also committed to helping children with health and athletic programs by having the players and coaches share their knowledge about fitness, nutrition and basketball skills.

The Denver Nuggets are excited to offer Team Fit to Denver classrooms. The program, sponsored by The Children’s Hospital, focuses on teaching kids about nutrition and fitness fundamentals. The program is available for classroom grades 3-8 throughout Metro Denver. Every class that signs-up for Team Fit will receive a ton of fun, educational materials.
Sponsored by the Children’s Hospital, Nugget for a Day honors students who are quality kids. The program encourages kids, who may not be straight-A students or All-State athletes, to continue to strive for improvement. Candidates must demonstrate academic achievement, positive attitude, good citizenship, good behavior, and community involvement.
Each season, the Nuggets work with a local military base to produce the Nuggets Military Appreciation game. Boys and girls ages 8-14 are selected to participate in the game in front of more than family and friends. Each child has at least one parent currently deployed. Participants receive replica Nuggets uniforms and get the once-in-lifetime chance to be coached by Nuggets players and legends.
As a native of Brazil, Nene participated in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders in South America in the summer of 2003 and 2004.
