DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks announced tonight that they have completed a
four player trade with the Washington Wizards. The Mavericks have traded
Antawn Jamison and cash considerations in exchange for Christian Laettner,
Jerry Stackhouse and the draft rights to Devin Harris.
Harris (6-3, 185), an early entry candidate out of Wisconsin, was selected
by Washington with the fifth pick in tonight's NBA Draft. In his junior
season, he broke Michael Finley's single-season scoring record with 624
points (19.5 points per game). Harris was named the 2003-04 Big Ten Player
of the Year and was named Second Team All-America by The Associated Press,
NABC, USBWA, ESPN.com, SI.com, The Sporting News and FoxSports.com.
Jerry Stackhouse |
Stackhouse (6-6, 218) has played for three teams during his nine year
career and is a two-time All-Star. Although he appeared in just 26 games
due to injury last season, Stackhouse has career averages of 20.8 points,
4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 608 games. The Philadelphia 76ers took
Stackhouse with the third overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft following his
sophomore season at North Carolina.

Laettner (6-11, 245) is coming off the completion of his 12th NBA season in
which he averaged 5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 48 games for Washington.
In 819 career games, the one-time All-Star has averaged 13.3 points, 6.9
rebounds and 2.7 assists. Laettner played 53 games for Dallas in 2000-01
before being traded mid-season along with Courtney Alexander, Hubert Davis,
Etan Thomas and Loy Vaught to Washington for Calvin Booth, Obinna Ekezie
and Juwan Howard.

Jamison (6-9, 223) was the recipient of the Sixth Man of the Year award in
2003-04 after averaging 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in all 82 games for
Dallas. He finished tied for third in the NBA in field goal percentage,
shooting a career high 53.5%. Over his six year career, Jamison has
averaged 19.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in 418 games. He also holds the
NBA's current longest consecutive games played streak at 328.
