Mavs Aquire Draft Rights for Pavel Podkolzin

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks announced tonight that they have traded a future first round draft pick to the Utah Jazz in exchange for the draft rights to Pavel Podkolzin (PAH-vil pud-CULL-zeen).

Podkolzin (7-5, 260) was taken with the 21st pick by Utah in tonight's NBA Draft. A native of Russia, he was originally an early entry candidate for the 2003 NBA Draft before withdrawing his name. Last season, Podkolzin appeared in 22 games for Varese in Italy's top league. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds during league play and 4.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14 ULEB Cup games.
