Mavs Sign Free Agent Jon Stefansson
DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks announced today Dallas Mavericks they have signed free agent guard Jon Stefansson.
Stefansson was an early entry candidate for the 2003 NBA Draft. He has played two full seasons for KR Reykjavik in Iceland’s top league before signing with TBB Trier of Germany’s in 2002-03.
Last season he averaged 13 points, 2.7 assists and 2.8 rebounds for Trier. He ranked third on the team in scoring and was second in assists, steals (1.32 spg), and three-point field goals.
The 6-5, 200 pound guard is a member of Iceland’s national team and previously played for Iceland’s Junior National Team and Under-20 National Team. He was named the Icelandic League Player of the Year in 2002 and was member of the All-Domestic Team and played in the Icelandic League All-Star Game.
