5th Annual Basketball 101 for Women Held Sept. 26


The 5th Annual NBA Basketball 101 for Women, presented by Boston Market, Sally Beauty Supply and Simon Malls, was held Monday, Sept. 26 on the Mavs practice court of American Airlines Center. 200 women came out to get a crash course in the fundamentals of offense, defense and officiating.

The ladies were also treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the Mavs locker room, where players Darrell Armstrong and Josh Powell answered questions from the different groups and also took photos with them. Other stations included Mavs strength and conditioning coach, Robert Hackett, Head and Assistant Head Athletic Trainers, Casey Smith and Dionne Calhoun, Performance Enhancement Coach, Don Kalkstein, plus the Mavs broadcasters. WNBA player Keisha Anderson helped out on the offensive end.

At the end of the night, the women had the opportunity to win some great prizes including an 2004-05 autographed team ball and an autographed jersey from Darrell Armstrong!
