The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have acquired the draft rights to forward Reyshawn Terry (44th overall pick) from Orlando in exchange for the draft rights to forward Milovan Rakovic (60th overall pick).
Terry (6-8, 232) completed his four-year career at North Carolina with the school’s third-best 3-point field goal percentage (.419). Terry scored 926 points and came down with 439 rebounds while shooting 48.5 percent from the field (314-647 FGs) in 126 career games for the Tar Heels. His senior season, he averaged 9.7 points while ranking second on the team with 45 3-pointers made and 24 blocks, and third in rebounding (5.4 rpg).
Between his sophomore and junior seasons, Terry raised his scoring output by 12.0 ppg, the second-highest increase in Tar Heel history. After finishing second on the team in scoring (14.3 ppg), 3-pointers made (45) and blocks (27), the Winston-Salem, N.C., native, was named All-ACC Third Team.
“We are excited about bringing in Reyshawn Terry after he played for four years in North Carolina,” President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. “He is an extremely talented athlete, with a long body who shoots deep and can play either swing position. Besides being one of the best athletes in the draft, he is an overall great guy.”
