Kroger “Give & Go” Auction with Dirk Nowitzki
Twenty auction bidders, along with one lucky raffle winner, and their guests attended the Mavs vs. Bulls game in a catered suite and participated in a private meet & greet with Dirk Nowitzki in the Mavs locker room after the game. Each winner bid approximately $1,000 on the prize package that also included an autographed Mavs jersey.
Through the online auction, raffle funds, along with a donation from Nowitzki, $33,510 was raised, which will provide over 6,700 backpacks of kid-friendly, nutritious food to chronically hungry children across the DFW area through the North Texas Food Bank's Food 4 Kids program.
A very special thank you to Kroger, Heritage Auctions, North Texas Food Bank, the winning participants and especially Dirk for making the program a huge success!
About Food 4 Kids
Food 4 Kids supplies participating schools with nutritious, kid-friendly, self-serve food designed to fill a backpack and feed a child over the weekend during the school year. Children identified by school personnel as being at risk of hunger receive approximately four pounds of food in their backpacks each Friday. On Monday, children return the empty backpacks and they are refilled for the next Friday. In 2012, the program has grown to 330 schools and distributes up to 12,000 Food 4 Kids backpacks every week. The cost of a backpack is a little over $5. For more information, visit www.ntfb.org.
