On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Mavs guard Marquis Daniels, Mavs President/CEO Terdema Ussery, along with representatives from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of North Texas, Sport Court, Glidden and the Crystal Charity Ball Committee helped dedicate a new basketball court and facility at Dallas Bethlehem Center.
The gym floor will allow Dallas Bethlehem Center to expand programming so that 2400 children and youth ages 1-21 in South Dallas will have a safe place to play. In addition, the gym will give the center the ability to offer programs that enhance youth development so local youth will be more likely to make healthy choices and avoid a wide-range of high-risk behavior.
Work completed includes painting of the gym walls and locker room floors (compliments of Glidden) and court installation by Sport Court of Arlington. The cost of the Sport Court floor and incidentals was taken care of by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of North Texas and the Mavs Foundation. The gym floor is part of a larger capital campaign funded by the Crystal Charity Ball, which provided a grant to build the outer walls of the gymnasium from the adjacent pre-existing building.
After the dedication, Marquis Daniels took a couple foul shots to officially open up the gym. Afterwards, he rebounded for the kids in attendance as they took their turns on the free throw line.
