Dallas Mavericks Hoop Camp
"Where Kids Always Win"
The goal of Dallas Mavericks Hoop Camp, presented by Academy Sports & Outdoors, is to provide a high-quality, fundamental teaching and playing environment for boys and girls ages 8-18. Hoop Camp kids have the opportunity to work with excellent basketball teachers and coaches and improve by learning and playing in an intensive and enjoyable one-week camp.
Dallas Mavericks Hoop Camp began in 1994 with five camps and 465 kids. Community demand has driven the program to grow each year. In the summer of 2008, over 3,000 kids participated in the 18 camps offered at various locations throughout the Metroplex. Since it's inception over 35,000 kids have enjoyed being in Hoop Camp.
Kids are the number one priority at Hoop Camp. The hand-picked Hoop Camp coaching staff is made up of professional teachers, coaches and collegians who have demonstrated a proven ability to work with kids, help them improve, and enjoy playing the game.
Camp highlights include daily awards and prizes for every camper, as well as visits from special guest speakers, including Mavericks players, coaches and other NBA guests. Each year the Mavericks Ballboys and Ballgirls are selected from Hoop Camp attendees from the age of 13 through 18. These hard-working, bright and dedicated Hoop Camp kids are chosen to work at Mavericks games to reward them for their efforts and dedication to the Mavericks. It's a great opportunity for the kids and helps the team identify good workers for the future.
Hoop Camp is presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors. Other sponsors include Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas, Gatorade, North Dallas Moving and Storage, Adidas and America's Best Sports Photography.

Dallas Mavericks Basketball Leagues
The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA, presented by Gatorade and Nike, serves existing recreational youth basketball leagues through support programs for players, coaches, parents and officials. Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA programs emphasize fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and positive adult participation with the goal of providing a fun and rewarding youth basketball experience where young players can create a bond with the game while also learning what it takes to be successful away from the court. Instructional components, recognition programs and appearances and clinics by NBA/WNBA personalities form the matrix of support provided to Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues.
Over 50,000 kids ages 5-14 are currently participating in Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues in and around the Dallas area. Over one million players, coaches and officials are involved through local league participation in the United States, Canada and abroad.
Instruction is the foundation of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA initiative. An advisory council'made up of NBA and WNBA players, coaches, legends and game officials, together with youth sports experts and organizational professionals'has created a unique series of instructional materials for member league players, coaches, parents and officials. The mix of on- and off-court instruction creates and maintains a positive and fun youth basketball environment where fundamental skill development, team play and sportsmanship are highlighted.
Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA recognition programs highlight the member players, coaches, teams and leagues that stand out on- and off the court through the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Star, Coach-of-the Year, League Achievement and Teamwork Award programs. Clinics and appearances featuring NBA and WNBA coaches, players, legends and officials are additional benefits provided to Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues. From skills to sportsmanship, clinics and appearances allow volunteer coaches and young players alike to learn from the best.
Through a unique web environment designed for members and non-members alike, the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA provides an easy to use 'league-finder' tool that allows users to identify a local league contact regarding participation as a player or coach. Also found online are the Keys to Success Program, instructional resources, program updates and other youth basketball coverage. For more information on any of these programs call 214-747-MAVS.
