SLAM DUNK HUNGER CHALLENGE RESULTS

DALLAS -- The Mavs, Dave & Buster’s, CBS11 and TXA21 would like to thank all fans who donated to the 2006 Mavs Slam Dunk Hunger Challenge benefiting the North Texas Food Bank that was held Nov. 1-30. As a result of fan donations and matching from Mavs players Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Terry, the Dallas Mavericks Foundation, as well as corporate partner Dave & Buster’s, $47,571.34, was raised which will provide 285,428 meals for hungry North Texans.

“Because of the generosity of the Dallas Mavericks Foundation, Dirk, Jason and Dave & Buster’s, hungry men, women, children and families will find hope during this holiday season. We all know of Dirk and Jason’s gifted physical talents on the court, but now we all know more about their heart. Thank you so much for caring that everyone has a place at America’s table at this holiday season,” expressed Food Bank CEO Jan Pruitt.

The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), a nonprofit center for food distribution, is a member of America’s Second Harvest - The Nation’s Food Bank Network. The Food Bank procures and distributes food to more than 678 feeding and education programs in 13 North Texas counties, including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, after-school programs, senior citizen centers and other social service centers.

On average each month, Agency food pantries distribute food to more than 56,000 families and serve over 494,000 meals through Agency on-site meal programs.

Every dollar donated to the NTFB provides $11 worth of grocery products. Only three cents out of each dollar is used in administration and fundraising; 97 cents is used in food distribution.
