Donnie Nelson Donnie Nelson

BACKGROUND AND MISSION
In December 2002, Donnie Nelson's heart for underprivileged youth led to the creation of the Assist Youth Foundation. The Foundation's goal is to advance opportunities for underprivileged kids in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and across the globe. By giving them the tools to excel in amateur athletics and enabling them to learn valuable life and character skills, these youth can have the same opportunity as others to make a positive impact on the world around them.

Since an early age when he was touring the world with Athletes in Action, Donnie has recognized the power that sports can have as an education tool for today's youth. By harnessing his many contacts in the area and around the globe, the potential exists to affect many lives in a positive way.

Amateur Athletics
The lack of fundamentals and opportunities for people of all socioeconomic backgrounds to excel in amateur athletics is well-documented. Providing a level playing field for all youth and teaching based on teamwork are goals for the Assist Youth Foundation.

Life and Character Skills
In addition to sports, today's youth must be equipped with the tools to succeed in any situation or occupation in society. For this reason, the Assist Youth Foundation takes a holistic view in approaching youth, knowing that each person must grow his or her mind, body and soul.

Assistance and Board of Directors
Augmenting Donnie's seed funding, current donors to the Assist Youth Foundation include Statewide Remodeling. Dallas Maverick legend and current Player Development Coach Rolando Blackman is on the Assist Youth Foundation Board of Directors.
