How is training camp going so far?
Practices are going great. Guys look like they are in shape. They are playing hard. They are playing aggressive and they definitely responded to the defense call that Coach Nelson put out at the start of camp. The main thing about this camp is that it is going to take effort. The coaches put out the challenge for them to play defense. The guys just got to dig down and tell themselves that they are going to stop some people on defense.
Any surprises that you have seen so far this camp?
I am surprised to see how in-shape all these guys are coming into camp. All these guys are in incredible shape, shooting the ball well, and really playing hard. It is obvious that they play basketball year round and use their off time in the summer to their advantage.

Are you glad two-a-days are over?
With one-a-days you go longer. The coach saved scrimmages for last today and that gets you a little more tired, but we are definitely glad to get two-a-days are over. Today was an excellent practice.
What do you think about the concentration on defense?
Typical camp, this time of year, I think that every NBA team is working primarily on defense. The offense is going to be easier to workout, but the defense has to be more of a team philosophy. That is usually where you start. Offensively we have less room to improve because we are a little bit better. But defensively we can make strides and we look forward to doing that.
How do you think Popeye Jones is fitting in with you guys?
He is fitting in great. I played with Popeye in Denver. I have known Popeye for a long time. He is a great guy and good guy to be around. He is going to add a lot to this team.
