OrlandoMagic.com’s Josh Cohen assesses which draft slot produced the best player each year since 1990. At the end of the gallery, a breakdown is calculated.

1990: No. 2 Pick (Gary Payton)

Cohen's Analysis: Payton was drafted behind Derrick Coleman, who started his career strong before injuries and weight problems ensued. And while Coleman's career dwindled by the time he was traded to Philadelphia in 1995, Payton's career continued to flourish. He helped lead the Sonics to the NBA Finals in 1996 and was named the Defensive Player of the Year that same season. "The Glove" eventually won an NBA championship with the Heat in 2006.
