Larry Johnson

#10 1991

Cohen's Analysis: What makes 1991 a quality draft class was the fact that seven of the first 15 players chosen all played on teams that went to the Finals and in certain cases won the title. Larry Johnson, for instance who was the first overall pick, helped the Knicks reach the NBA Finals in 1999. Dikembe Mutombo was Philadelphia’s rim protector in 2001 when the Sixers advanced to the Finals and Luc Longley was the “man in the middle” for the Bulls during their second set of three straight titles.

Again, however, there were some disappointing careers from the ’91 class, including Doug Smith (6th), Mark Macon (8th) and Rich King (14th).
