The McCormick Tribune Foundation & Its Florida Partners Open Hurricane Relief Campaigns
CHICAGO, September 7, 2004 - The McCormick Tribune Foundation and several of its partners in Florida - the Orlando Sentinel, the Sun-Sentinel and WBZL-TV/South Florida’s WB39 - have started two campaigns in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Frances, which swept through Florida over the weekend.
The Orlando Sentinel Family Fund Disaster Relief campaign will support non-profit organizations providing assistance to those Orlando-area residents hardest hit by this year’s hurricanes, including Frances and Charley. People who wish to donate can call the toll-free phone number 1-800-447-6641 or mail a check to Orlando Sentinel Family Fund Disaster Relief campaign, P.O. Box 918905, Orlando, FL 32891-8905. The Sun-Sentinel/WB39 Children’s Fund Hurricane Relief campaign will support organizations that provide short-and long-term aid to Florida residents affected by hurricanes in 2004. Those who wish to donate can call the toll-free phone number 1-800-840-8544 or mail a check to Sun-Sentinel/WB39 Children’s Fund - Hurricane Relief campaign, P.O. Box 919792, Orlando, FL 32891. The McCormick Tribune Foundation will match the first million dollars donated to each relief campaign at 50 cents on the dollar. All administrative costs will be paid by the Orlando Sentinel, the Sun-Sentinel, WBZL-TV and the foundation; all funds raised and the matching dollars will be given to nonprofit organizations serving hurricane victims.
