Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard was named the 2004-2005 winner of the Rich & Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award Saturday night at the 15th Annual Black Tie & Tennies Charity Gala held at TD Waterhouse Centre.

Each year at this event, the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation honors a player who has dedicated his efforts off the court for the purpose of enhancing others’ lives. An anonymous panel of community representatives selects the player. In addition to receiving the award, the player is granted $50,000 from the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation to donate to the charity of his choice.

In just his rookie season, Dwight Howard has consistently volunteered his time off the court and to the Central Florida community supporting the initiatives of the Magic’s Community Relations department, the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation and the NBA. Highlights of Dwight’s community involvement for the 2004-2005 season include:

· Speaking at Faith & Family Night
· Participation in the Hispanic Heritage Read to Achieve reading event

Over 16 years, the OMYF has raised and distributed more than $12 million to local non-profit organizations.
