| On Friday, September 25, 2009 the Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, several Orlando Magic players, Orlando Magic Dancers, celebrities and sports stars all gathered at Reunion Resort and Club for the 18th Annual Orlando Magic Championship for Charity Golf Tournament, presented by Insurance Offices of America. The annual event combines a Tee-Off party the night before which includes a live and silent auction and a day of golfing followed by an afternoon reception, silent auction and luncheon. This year’s event was another great success. It allowed some of the Magic’s biggest fans to meet and speak with some of their favorite players and also raise more than $200,000 for the OMYF. | |
| On Thursday, September 24, 2009 the night started at Blue Martini, where the Second Annual Tee-Off party was held. The event included silent and live auctions, catering provided by Blue Martini, complimentary wine provided by Barefoot Wine, live music, and interactions with Orlando Magic celebrities. | |
| The day of the tournament brought plenty of Florida Sunshine and 300 golfers. It started with a tasty breakfast, provided by Panera Bread, with on course catering provided by Hard Rock Cafe which preceded a scramble golf tournament on Reunion’s Tom Watson Independence and Arnold Palmer Legacy courses featuring various Magic sponsors paired with Magic celebrities like Alex Martins, Jason Williams and Bo Outlaw, PGA golf celebrities such as Brian Davis, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and Chris DiMarco, and other celebrities in the community including Mayor Buddy Dyer , Dennis Neumann, and David “Ping” Pingalore. There were also opportunities to take pictures with Orlando Magic celebrities Mickael Pietrus on the Tom Watson Course and Nick Anderson on the Arnold Palmer Course. This year’s contests included: Closest to the Pin, Hole in One, Straightest Drive, Brown Forman Shot for Shot, Double Your Money, and Longest Drive on various holes in each course. | |
| When the late afternoon arrived so did more fun: the afternoon luncheon. As golfers arrived at the Heritage Ballroom to turn in their score-cards they joined other guests for cocktails and refreshments, a delicious lunch provided by Reunion Resort and Club, an award ceremony and silent auction. Orlando Magic’s very own Stan Van Gundy, Vince Carter and Matt Guokas also joined the luncheon along with the Orlando Magic dancers to mingle with guests, sign autographs and chat about the NBA. While at the luncheon, all the guests had the chance to bid on over 90 silent auction items from Orlando Magic exclusive items to golf experiences to jewelry and travel packages. | |
The Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, would like to thank all of those who attended the 18th Annual Orlando Magic Championship for Charity Golf Tournament, presented by Insurance Office of America.
