Afterward, Oladipo said he knew the early struggles were a test and it was important for him to keep his head up and respond. And considering how he responded, it was another milestone achievement for the 21-year-old guard.

``I’m going to be patient,’’ he said. ``Patience is a virtue. I want that virtue.’’

Much was expected from Oladipo, the second overall pick from last June’s NBA Draft, and he’s delivered so far this preseason. Heading into Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons at the Amway Center, Oladipo leads the Magic (1-4) in scoring (14.2 ppg.), ranks second in assists (4.4 apg) and steals (1.4 spg.) and is third in rebounding (6.2 rpg.). His preseason has been filled with plenty of highs and lows so far, but Oladipo said the only challenge for him is demanding too much from himself too soon.
