Orlando, FL -- The National Basketball Association today released its 2009-10 schedule and announced the Orlando Magic will open its 21st season on Wednesday, October 28 at home vs. Philadelphia. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
The Orlando Magic did not raise season ticket prices for the 2009-10 season. Season tickets remaining range in price from $10 to $99 per game with 12 different price points. There are a franchise-most 7,529 seats priced $25 or under per game, while supplies last. There is also a $27 lower bowl season ticket and tickets priced at $10 for the 12th straight year. There are several ticket plans and group packages available. Single-game tickets will go on sale in early October. A limited number of season tickets are available through the RDV Sportsplex Orlando Magic Box Office, by calling 407-89-MAGIC, or through orlandomagic.com.
Orlando opens training camp on September 29 at the team’s practice facility, the RDV Sportsplex. The Magic’s complete schedule is available through their official website: orlandomagic.com. The entire NBA schedule can be found on the league’s official website: NBA.com.
Orlando has 24 national television games scheduled - the most in franchise history. The Magic will appear five times on ABC, nine times on ESPN and 10 times on TNT. The national TV slate is punctuated by a Christmas Day contest vs. Boston on ABC (2:30 p.m. tip). Orlando has played six times on Christmas Day (4-2 in those outings, including a win last Christmas vs. New Orleans). The Magic will also appear eight times on NBATV.
The Magic’s local broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
Each NBA team will play an 82-game regular season: 41 home and 41 away. The Magic will play 52 games vs. the Eastern Conference (18 games vs. the Atlantic Division, 18 games vs. the Central Division and 16 games vs. the Southeast Division) and 30 games against the Western Conference (10 games each vs. the Northwest Division, the Southwest Division and the Pacific Division).
Orlando will play a total of 17 home games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this season. The 2009-10 Magic schedule also features 19 back-to-back contests (38 games played on consecutive nights).
After opening at home on October 28 and then playing Oct. 30 in New Jersey, Orlando will play 16 games in November, including Thanksgiving night at Atlanta (8 p.m., TNT; 7 home, 9 away), 13 games in December, including Christmas Day at home against Boston (2:30 p.m., ABC; 8 home, 5 away), 17 games in January (6 home, 11 away), 12 games in February (7 home, 5 away), 14 games in March (8 home, 6 away) and eight games in April (4 home, 4 away).
The Magic have a season-long five-game homestand from December 19-30. Orlando’s longest road trips are both four-game, West Coast trips, taking place December 5-11 (four games in seven days) and January 12-18 (four games in seven days).
