June 7, 2011

ORLANDO -- J.J. Redick recently underwent successful surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle on May 26, team officials said.

Redick, who missed the final 17 games of the regular season with the injury before returning for the Magic’s First Round series against the Hawks, is expected to rehab for the next 4-6 weeks in Orlando.

After re-signing with the Magic last summer to a three-year contract, Redick averaged 10.1 points and shot 44.1 percent in 59 regular season games.

In the team’s six playoff games, he averaged 6.7 points and enjoyed a splendid performance in Game 5 in which he scored 14 points.
