A poor shooting night helped send the Orlando Magic to their second straight home loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Toronto Raptors, 91-84. Carlos Arroyo scored 22 points for Orlando, who only managed to shoot 37 percent from the field. Andrea Bargnani, the No. 1 overall selection in June's NBA Draft, had a career night with 23 points. The Magic play in Charlotte on Thursday night.

After trailing by eight at the end of the first quarter, the Magic kicked things into action with a solid second quarter to head into halftime with the game tied, 44-44. But much like Monday's loss to Phoenix, the Magic came out flat in the third quarter and trailed Toronto by as many as 12 points. They inched as close as five points late in the fourth quarter, but weren't able to make their shots fall and the Raptors held on.

Along with Arroyo's 22 points, the Magic got 17 points and 13 rebounds from Dwight Howard, along with 11 from Tony Battie and 10 off the bench from Keyon Dooling. Grant Hill, who scored only three points in 18 minutes, was feeling some pain in his knee and did not return to the game after a stint in the third quarter.

Bargnani had his best night as an NBA player with his 23 point effort, which included five three pointers. The Raptors also got 14 points from T.J. Ford, 12 from Morris Peterson and 11 apiece from Joey Graham and Anthony Parker.

9:26PM: Well, not the result the Magic were hoping for in this game. Without Chris Bosh, Toronto was vulnerable and a terrible shooting night sank Orlando's ship early and often. The Magic fall to the Raptors, 91-84.

9:21PM: Peterson goes uncontested to the hole and the Raptors now have an 86-78 lead with 59.5 left in the game. Magic shooting a very poor 38 percent for the game.

9:18PM: Nesterovic is fouled by Howard at the 2:22 mark and goes to the line. He misses his first free throw, but makes the second. Arroyo hits a jumper at the other end to pull Orlando within four, 82-78 with two minutes left. Bargnani isn't able to connect for Toronto, but Arroyo's shot isn't able to fall. Peterson fouled while coming down with the rebound and goes to the free throw line. Both free throws fall and it's back to a six-point Raptor lead.

9:14PM: Ford goes to the free throw line with 3:10 left and makes them both to make it a 81-74 game. Howard misses on two attempts, but Ariza tips it back in with 2:49 on the clock. Magic needs some stops here.

9:12PM: Diener misses two from outside and Bargnani makes them pay with another three on his career night. Battie's hook pulls the Magic back to five with 4:19 left. Parker misses a jumper, but Redick fails to connect at the other end.

9:07PM: Dooling's floater makes it a six point game and Darko is fouled by Bargnani the next time down the floor and goes to the line. He makes the first and timeout is called on the floor. It's a five point ballgame with 5:53 left.

9:05PM: Ariza free throw and Diener three pointer brings Orlando within six, 74-68, with 7:04 left. Redick fouls Peterson and sends him to the line. He hits the first and the second as the Raptors lead moves back to eight.

9:00PM: Another three from Bargnani and they now have a 10 point lead. Bargnani is 7-of-14 for the game. There's 8:05 left in the game. Darko's not having much luck guarding Bargnani's outside shot. A four-point game has quickly gotten out of hand for Orlando.

8:59PM: Bargnani just hit back-to-back threes and Toronto now has a 71-64 lead. The No. 1 pick has a career-high 17 points.

8:55PM: Fourth quarter and Magic really need to get going here to avoid a second straight home loss. And a good start with Darko slamming back an Ariza miss.

8:52PM: Arroyo is fouled and hits a pair of free throws to close within five at the 1:31 mark. The Raptors fail to connect on their next two possessions, but so do the Magic. Toronto winds down the quarter and will go into the fourth with a 65-60 lead.

8:50PM: Keyon Dooling's fastbreak layup makes it a four point game, but Bargnani cans a three to cushion Toronto's lead with 2:24 left. It's now Toronto, 65-58.

8:41PM: T.J. Ford, who leads the Raptors with 10 points, just picked up his fourth foul and goes to the bench. Arroyo, now guarded by Jose Calderon, hits a jumper to bring Orlando within five. But Joey Graham hits a shot as he's fouled and will go to the line. He hits the free throw and the lead is back to eight, 62-54.

8:38PM: Toronto doesn't let the Magic get too close to the lead as Anthony Parker hits a three and the Raptors quickly build up an eight-point lead in less than a minute.

8:34PM: Howard gets Orlando's first points of the second half and then steals the ball and feeds Arroyo for a layup as they pull within two. But Ford hits a shot at the other end and the Raptors have a 52-48 lead. But Grant Hill takes the ball coast-to-coast for his first points of the night and draws the foul. The charity stripe bonus is good and it's a one point game with 8:24 left.

8:31PM: This third quarter is looking much like Monday's game as Toronto has scored the first six points of the second half. Coach Hill calls timeout before things get out of hand.

8:27PM: After a real shaky start to the game, the Magic have made this a ballgame again - thanks in large part to a second quarter surge by Carlos Arroyo and Tony Battie. Both were heavy contributors in bringing the Magic back from a 12-point deficit. Arroyo has a game-high 12 points at the half, while Battie has eight. Rookie Bargnani leads Toronto with eight.

8:08PM: It's halftime here at Amway Arena and the Magic have clawed back into the game. They head into the lockerroom tied with at 44.

8:03PM: Carlos Arroyo checks back into the game and begins doing some serious damage to Toronto's defensive efforts - scoring on three consecutive trips down the floor as the Magic have pulled within one, 42-41, with 1:32 left in the half.

7:58PM: Milicic hook goes in and the Magic are within seven again at the 4:47 mark. But it doesn't stop there as Dooling feeds Battie inside to bring Orlando within five, 40-35 with 4:01 left until halftime.

7:50PM: Rookie J.J. Redick checks into the game at the 8:27 mark and it's Travis Diener who responds with a three. But Morris Peterson connects at the other end of Toronto. The Magic get another good look at the other end as Battie hits from outside. Magic move back within nine points, 36-27. Battie then puts back a Dooling miss and the Magic trail by only seven.

7:48PM: Stat of the game so far...the Magic shooting percentage, which has dipped to 31 percent. The Raptors are leading, 34-22.

7:42PM: The rook Bargnani is having a field day with the Magic defense. He's already got eight points as the Raptors now lead by 10. He keeps this up and we'll be seeing a career-night out of the No. 1 pick. Milicic bucket brings Magic back within eight, 30-22.

7:38PM: That's the end of one. Raptors 26, Magic 18.

7:36PM: Keyon Dooling hits a pair of free throws, followed by an outside shot and the Magic are within four, 22-18. But Bargnani hits from 20 and it's back to a six-point game.

7:34PM: Diener and Milicic check in with 2:21 left and the score still 22-14. The Magic looking to get something - anything - going.

7:28PM: Unlike some recent games, the Magic are off to a slow start. A very slow start. Raptors have jumped out to a 22-14 lead as the Magic have hit only 6-of-17 shots. There's 4:14 left in the quarter.

7:22PM: Mr. No.1 pick Andrea Bargnani has checked into the game. I think the jury's still out on Bargnani. He's looked pretty good at times, but also a bit inconsistent. But after all, he is still a rookie. Didn't people say the same thing about Dwight a couple years ago. Six minutes left in the opening quarter and the Raptors have a four point lead, 18-14.

7:17PM: A disappointing crowd so far, unless there are several thousand people just running a bit late. I figured that press about J.J. Redick getting some minutes over the next few games would fire up enough people that we'd have standing-room only tonight. Or at least, that's the conclusion you'd draw if you read all the 'Why isn't J.J. playing?' emails we receive. Toronto is batting .833 to start this game and they've jumped out to a 12-6 lead.

7:12PM: Tip-off time here at the Amway Arena and Senor D12, Dwight Howard is in the middle with ex-Spur, Rasho Nesterovic. Too bad, it would be nice to see Chris Bosh in this one against Dwight. Oh well, maybe next time. The tip goes to...the Magic. First possession in Orlando...ball goes inside to Dwight, who sees a cutting Tony Battie coming across the lane and we've got a 2-0 ballgame.

7:11PM: Welcome to tonight's game between the Toronto Raptors and the Orlando Magic. Here are tonight's starting lineups: For Toronto, as previously reported - Jorge Garbajosa, Joey Graham, Rasho Nesterovic, Anthony Parker and T.J. Ford. And for the Magic, a few injuries will make the starting five Trevor Ariza, Tony Battie, Dwight Howard, Grant Hill and Carlos Arroyo. Jameer Nelson, Hedo Turkoglu and Keith Bogans are inactive tonight, which means James Augustine will be active for his first NBA game tonight. I was joking around at dinner that the basketball operations staff was probably running up to the retail booth on the concourse to have a personalized jersey make for James. Just kidding...James is a good guy and I can't wait to see him in action.

9:30AM: Pre-Game Preview

My what a difference one game makes.

Just two nights after seeing a starting lineup of Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Boris Diaw and Raja Bell, this could be the opposing lineup that the Magic face on Wednesday night:

Jorge Garbajosa, Joey Graham, Rasho Nesterovic, Anthony Parker and T.J. Ford

Yeah, it's the Toronto Raptors and a lineup that would be difficult for even the most loyal of NBA fans to pick up - outside of Toronto. Granted, the Raptors have been struck a bit by the injury bug this season, which includes it's latest casualty - the super-talented Chris Bosh. Bosh has a bone bruise on his left knee and has missed Toronto's past two games.

They've also had missing in action tags on Morris Peterson (seven games - left elbow), Kris Humphries (six games - right ankle), Pape Sow (21 games - fractured vertebrae) and even No. 1 overall Draft pick Andrea Bargnani, who was bother by a sore lower back last week.

But the Raptors aren't the only ones battling the injury bug right now. Hedo Turkoglu went down against Detroit last Friday with a sprained right ankle and is out for at least the next week. The following night, Keith Bogans suffered a similar injury against Philadelphia and is now listed as day-to-day. Now, Jameer Nelson is a bit hobbled with a strained right groin and could sit out tonight's game.

Toronto is 7-14 overall this season and 2-11 on the road. They come to Orlando after a 22-point loss in Miami on Monday night.

And while some of the Raptors lineup will be new to Magic fans, there are a few faces you'll recognize. You may remember Parker from his season with the Magic in 1999-2000. After that, he spent five years playing in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv before signing with the Raptors in the off-season. And Joey Graham, who finished his collegiate career at Oklahoma State, started out as a Central Florida - playing two seasons for the Knights.

Without Bosh in the lineup, this game seems heavily lopsided in Orlando's favor. However, the Magic and Raptors have split the last 16 times they've met. And in this unpredictable NBA world, anything can happen.

Orlando Magic Head Coach Brian Hill:
“Well obviously it’s a disappointing loss for us tonight, but there’s nothing we can do but re-group and try to come back and get a win tomorrow. I was very disappointed in our defensive effort and our offensive execution, especially in the second half when we had three assists and nine turnovers. I thought guys were trying to do too much on their own instead of just playing as a team. I give Toronto credit. Bargnani comes in and has a huge game, 5-for-8 from behind the line and shooting 30 percent from behind the line coming into the game. I wasn’t very happy with the overall performance. I didn’t think we had the same type of defensive effort that we normally do and certainly our offensive execution wasn’t very good.”

On if injuries were a factor of the loss…
“I guess they’re factors, but you still have to play the game with the guys you got and that’s what we’re doing.”

On the defensive effort…
“I thought we were too lax with dribble penetration. I thought guys were getting down the lane and laying the ball up on us and we weren’t getting enough help. We had shots in the paint and on the perimeter that weren’t contested. You just can’t do that. Guy makes three or four threes on you, then you got to get out and get a hand up and not let him shoot the next one and we just stood off of him and let him knock one down. They played harder than we did tonight so they deserved to win the game because they played harder.”

On Grant Hill…
“He’s not playing tomorrow. Whether he’s okay or not that I’m not sure, he was not able to go back into the game. His knee was bothering him.”

On if the new line-up has changed the chemistry of the team…
“It may. Some guys aren’t used to playing with other guys out there on the floor, but that’s not an excuse. We all run the same offense. I just thought tonight we tried to do too much single handedly. Any time you have ten assists for a game and you only have three in the second half, you’re just not playing the same type of basketball that we normally play at the offensive end.”

Orlando Magic Guard Keyon Dooling:
“There can’t be an excuse; we still have to perform better. They came into tonight and they played with more energy, more effort and they took it to us.”

“In an NBA season, there’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs, there’s going to be injuries, you know that’s going to happen. Hopefully we can get the guys back, get the whole team back and get back on track. In the meantime, we just have to hold the fort down.”

On tomorrow’s game
“That’s the great thing about our league…you can have bad games and lose on your home court and then you have an opportunity to go out and win a basketball game on the road in front of a nationally televised audience. It’s exciting for us because we’re a team that doesn’t get a lot of national exposure but it should be a fun game for us.”

“Everybody is tired. Everybody in this league is tired right now. I’m not sure, but by looking at the board, it looks like we’ve played more games than pretty much everybody in the East, so we just have to find a way to hit open shots. Teams are really trying to take Dwight out of it and we’re not helping him out because we’re not hitting anything from the outside. All it takes is for a couple of them to go down, and we get back on a roll. So, we just have to persevere through the tough times and look forward to the good times.”

Orlando Magic Forward/Center Dwight Howard:
“It’s frustrating, especially to work so hard to get a bucket, work so hard to get position and when your shot is going in and out and you’re working on it every day in practice, it happens some days. And the only thing you can do is come back the next day and get better.”

“We have a game tomorrow and hopefully we get it going and keep playing as hard as we’ve been playing and just get a win. We really need one.”

Toronto Raptors Forward Morris Peterson:
“In this league, you don’t ever take anything for granted. It’s a road win and you roll with it. However you can get it. Tonight we showed some toughness. Coach told us to come out, play aggressive, hold our heads up and make plays. We did that.”

“Andrea played big. We call him “Big Rook” and tonight he made some plays for us. He hit some big shots for us and we need guys to step up every night. Our team is not built for one guy to make all the plays. Everybody has to contribute and that is how we win games.”

(on winning despite absence of Chris Bosh)
“It is a big motivation for us because when Chris went down people were saying we can’t win any games. We just want to prove people wrong. I think it will also give guys opportunities to step up and get guys more playing time. We are missing a big chunk of our offense and defense and rebounding. We have to have other guys step up, play by committee and give us a chance to win.”

Toronto Raptors Center Rasho Nesterovic:
“He (Bargnani) comes from Europe. He is the number one pick so there is a lot of expectations and pressure. If we give him time and wait, he can become one of the best players in this league.”

“He (Bargnani) started very slow. But from then on, he has been shooting, playing defense, and accepting his role.”

“This gives us a lot of confidence for our next two games and going into New Jersey.”

Toronto Raptors Guard T.J. Ford:
“We were able to keep with our game plan going in, keep our composure, make shots, and make the right plays.”

“We just made it hard for them. I think everybody was in the right defensive spots that they were supposed to be in. Everybody helped each other and their shooting percentage kept going down.”

“The key was movement and making the right cuts. We did a good job running our offense tonight. Everybody was patient. With Chris not here, we still have to continue to play. Everybody stepped up tonight. Andrea had a great game and I am excited for him.”
