Terrence Ross is extremely underrated in the pick-and-roll. Considering he played behind DeMar DeRozan, opportunities were limited. However, when you dig deeper into it you see that Ross actually excels when the play runs through him. Opponents are forced to go over a ball screen because Ross is an excellent perimeter shooter and Ross is very crafty when he drives down the lane. He had an effective field goal percentage of 57.9 percent in the pick-and-roll (ranked No. 1 on Raptors). WATCH:

Ross is the ultimate “make-you-pay if you collapse in the paint” player. While streaky, Ross is an above average catch and shoot guy and he’s far from timid. Particularly when he plays alongside aggressive playmaking guards (like Elfrid Payton and Evan Fournier), Ross is very good at finding his sweet spots along the arc and he’s always ready to launch when the pass heads his direction. WATCH:

Ross is a former slam dunk champion. He’s extraordinarily athletic and terrific in transition. Ross is also very good at weaving through traffic and dodging defenders on the fast break. WATCH:

Ross was Toronto’s best player coming off screens. He has the speed to escape most defenders and he typically is balanced when he squares up for the shot. Ross is always seeking out pin-down and backdoor screens and he’s patient enough to wait for something good to develop. WATCH:

Again, because he had reduced opportunities in Toronto playing with DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, Ross has the ability to isolate his defender and score off the dribble. Watch him blow past LeBron James and finish at the rim. WATCH:
