A late scratch from Wednesday night’s starting lineup because of a matchup issue, Orlando Magic power forward Kyle O’Quinn was back in a reserve role following three starts this preseason.
And it might have been just what the Magic big man needed to calm his nerves and play his best basketball of the preseason.
Struggling somewhat early on this preseason with being foul prone and committing turnovers, O’Quinn played confidently on both ends of the floor Wednesday night despite Orlando’s 108-104 loss to the Houston Rockets.
Houston’s Aaron Brooks hit a 3-pointer after Orlando – once down as much as 15 points – had gotten to within 100-96 in the final 3 minutes. Orlando’s E’Twaun Moore had a 3-pointer to potentially win the game with 10 seconds remaining, but he missed.
