ORLANDO -- Orlando Magic forward Maurice Harkless admits now that the 19-year-old, slightly overwhelmed rookie Maurice Harkless likely would have been unnerved by a slow start to this season.

But this Maurice Harkless, a 20-year-old, second-year player who has not only a NBA season under his belt, but also a summer of intense work in hand, showed up at the Amway Center on Friday night determined to get his season back on track.

Harkless struggled in the season-opener trying to check emerging star Paul George and he mustered just two points and one rebound in 19 minutes in Wednesday’s overtime loss in Minnesota. Intent on making an impact on the game with his hustle and his aggressiveness, Harkless was all over the floor Friday night to the tune of 20 points, eight rebounds, eight free throw attempts, four steals and two 3-pointers. That aggressiveness was infectious as the Magic routed the New Orleans Pelicans 110-90.
