Cohen: Forecasting the Final Standings

ORLANDO -- I have a tendency to be very obsessed about the NBA standings and potential playoff matchups. Every day throughout the entire regular season after I wake up and turn my computer on, I have a habit of visiting NBA.com for a look and analysis of the latest standings.

There is always so much to dissect and envision, especially at this stage of the season when teams are in the final stages of competing for playoff spots and positioning.

It’s virtually impossible to not examine what the best case scenarios are for the Orlando Magic. What seed is best for their championship quest, whom do you want them to pair up with in the First Round and what do you hope the rest of the field breaks down to?

Presently, there are all kinds of curiosities spread around the Eastern Conference.

Who will ultimately end up with the No. 1 seed in the East: Celtics or Bulls?

Can the Magic catch the Heat and claim the Southeast Division title?

Who will Orlando collide with in the opening round of the postseason: Atlanta, New York or Philadelphia?

Who will avoid the NBA Draft lottery and slide into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed: Indiana, Charlotte or Milwaukee?

If the Magic advance to the conference semifinals, whom would they most likely play?

Since it is one of the most invigorating and thought-provoking arguments raised inside the OrlandoMagic.com war room, I decided to collect some of my colleague’s predictions on what the East standings will look like when the regular season is complete.

After revealing everyone’s forecast, I seeded each team based on their most projected spot in the playoffs to allow you, the fans, to vote what you think the outcome would be if those were the First Round matchups.
