Josh Cohen's Analysis: The much anticipated return of Dwight Howard to Amway Center is set for Tuesday, March 12. It will be the first time Magic fans will see Howard up close since last season before his sudden back injury knocked him out of action. He was traded to L.A. in August as part of a blockbuster four-team deal.
It will obviously be an electrifying atmosphere after all the drama that transpired last year. But the ambiance of this occasion may be even more amplified after Howard’s recent comments during a sit-down interview with CBS2/KCAL9’s Kristine Leahy in which he stated, “My team in Orlando was full of people nobody wanted.”
Well, Dwight: You played with Ryan Anderson, who won Most Improved Honors last season and was in high demand on the free agent market before New Orleans offered him a four-year, $36 million contract. You also played with J.J. Redick, who was the most prized player traded last month. More than a dozen teams were in high pursuit of him before finally Milwaukee landed him.
One of your remaining teammates from your days in Orlando, Earl Clark, who joined you in your relocation to L.A., has enjoyed a sensational season with the Lakers.
