Cohen 8-Ball: More Devastating Playoff Series Loss?

OrlandoMagic.com’s Josh Cohen opens up a debate on intriguing topics on the Magic and the entire NBA.

More Devastating Playoff Series Loss?

While there are several invigorating playoff series victories in Magic history, including each series win leading up to the Finals appearances in 1995 and 2009, there are also a few disheartening series losses as well.

While the defeats to Houston and Los Angeles in the NBA Finals were unfortunate, there never really was much doubt in either series. The Rockets swept the Magic in ’95 and the Lakers – despite golden opportunities for Orlando to steal Games 2 and 4 – captured the title in five games.

In my estimation, the two most devastating playoff series losses were both First Round exits. The elimination to Detroit in 2003 after Orlando took a commanding 3-1 lead was demoralizing and the defeat to Atlanta in 2011 a year after the Magic swept the Hawks in the playoffs was also exasperating.
