ORLANDO – Courtesy of their sweep of the Charlotte Bobcats, the Orlando Magic have some extra time on their hands before they start their next playoff series.
Magic forward Matt Barnes is putting that time to good use.
Barnes will appear at the Athlete's Foot on 45 West Crystal Lake Street in Orlando this Saturday from 2 – 4 p.m. ET to sign autographs and take pictures with fans as well as giveaway playoff tickets and an autographed jersey.
In order to help support his ongoing quest to fight against cancer, the retail outlet will also begin to sell one of his signature shirts with proceeds going to his Athletes vs. Cancer foundation. Barnes lost his mother, Ann Catherine Barnes, to the illness on November 27, 2007.
“The way I felt after I lost my mom, I never wanted anyone else to feel that way,” he explained. “Knowing that people really look up to athletes, I decided to join the fight and try to help raise awareness and let people know how serious this illness is.”
