Magic Establish Disaster Relief Fund

The Orlando Magic Disaster Relief Fund

In an effort to provide relief to those victims on the East Coast, the McCormick Tribune Foundation has established a national Disaster Relief Fund. The foundation will match the first $5 million raised nationwide at 50 cents on the dollar.

The Orlando Magic will join in this fund-raising effort by establishing the ORLANDO MAGIC DISASTER RELIEF FUND, A FUND OF THE MCCORMICK TRIBUNE FOUNDATION. Individuals can donate directly by mailing a check or money order payable to Orlando Magic Disaster Relief Fund, 8701 Maitland Summit Blvd., Orlando, FL 32810 up until January 31, 2002.

All money raised will go directly to support agencies providing disaster relief assistance to the victims and family members who suffered from the tragedies on Tuesday, September 11th. 100% of the donations -and the match- will be granted to relief agencies and no portion of the donations will be used for administrative costs.

Grants are made from the Disaster Relief Fund in response to applications from organizations with 501(c)(3) status providing services to and addressing the needs of victims of the terrorist acts in New York City and Washington DC, and their families. Priority will be given to programs providing services directly to victims and their families. Secondary priority will be given to community-wide programs. No funds will be granted directly to individuals. The Disaster Relief Fund does not make grants that financially benefit Tribune Company, Orlando Magic or any of its subsidiaries.
